The Hoang Nguyen Foundation is dedicated to Hai Nguyen's
father who passed away in April 2002 of cancer. The project is founded
by Hai
Nguyen who immigrated to America
with his family in 1979 when he was 2 years old. With his family's
strong sense
of education and hard work they have been able to realize a life that
they could
only dream of. Hai's father always
stressed the importance of expanding one's knowledge past what
they were accustomed to and instilled a strong work ethic to
help drive past that comfort zone.
Hai has been working with the Vietnamese Culture and Science
Association (www.VCSA.org), a non-profit organization that helps young
Vietnamese-Americans develop excellence in education and leadership skills
through culture and science. Hai's main project with the VCSA is to help support the
after school program. This program allows children to come to the center
after school and do their studies with the assistance of an
on-site tutor. The majority of VCSA's funding is through corporate sponsorships.
Unfortunately with the downward turn in the economy many companies have
decreased or even stopped funding for these types of projects. The VCSA after school program was able to
secure $15,000 in grants from St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital but needs another
$15,000 to maintain operating costs for the remainder of the year. The Hoang Nguyen Foundation would like to ask
for your support to reach and exceed our goal of $15,000.
The Hoang Nguyen Foundation will
have a fundraising poker night July 18th, 2009.
All proceeds will go to VCSA to help raise money to maintain the tutors for the
kids of the after school program. There are two ways to help
support the Hoang Nguyen Foundation's poker night.
First, individuals wanting to buy-in to the Texas
Hold'em poker tournament can do so at $50, $100, and $500 tables. There
will be prizes for the winner of each table given by the generous sponsors. We
will disclose the prizes as soon as we verify with the different sponsors. Secondly,
there are corporate sponsorship packages that allow companies to donate to the
program. If you or your company is interested in more information
about corporate sponsorship please contact Hai Nguyen at hai@elite-martial-arts.com.

Remember when we are able to truly understand where we stand
in the cause of the matter (any situation in life) we can then truly make a
difference in the world. When a child can maintain his integrity, he can truly
make a positive choice that will help himself, his family and his community.
With that type of power, he can inspire beyond his community and give himself
to the world. His leadership will be
able to transform the world into a place where we can all have a choice to be
in the world. Each and every child can
make a difference. If we can help one
child, our world as well as that child wins! Humanity wins. Help make the difference today.
